True Detective - Movie Trailer

Season 1 of True Detective is one of my all time favorite TV shows.

This movie-style trailer is meant to encompass the wonder and intrigue of the show’s finer details. At the same time, it threatens a slightly different outlook on the main character’s true motivations.

My process for this video involved cutting hours of audio and video into a neat, two minute package. While staying true to the story, I also set out to make something new. I decided to combine dialogue and visuals with bits of unrelated exposition, producing new interactions and potential conflicts. This introduced many challenges when mastering my audio. The show’s own background music was one of my biggest challenges when editing dialogue.

While I wanted to focus on introducing first-timers to the series, I also wanted to convince long-time fans to give it another watch.
